Mass Mountain Alpine Series Data Storage Server (DSS).

  Mass Mountain Alpine Series SAN

The Mass Mountain Data Storage Server (DSS) is unique in the industry because it allows users to configure the Virtual Disk volumes to serve out to three different interfacing technologies.

iSCSI SAN.
Uses multiple Gbit Ethernet ports (or 10GbitE) to provide access to an iSCSI based SAN where each system on the SAN uses dedicated or bonded NIC ports for disk I/O. An iSCSI initiator driver then interfaces the target volumes configured via the easy to use Storage Management GUI on the DSS system. iSCSI target volumes are persistent to the SAN member and appear as locally attached disk storage even though they are virtualized and redundantly protected inside the DSS. By combining spinning disk and Solid State Disk Technology with our RAID controllers the system I/O outperforms most competitors. RAID 5 & 6 and higher redundant protection is standard with the DSS. Replication and snapshot utilities are included with each DSS system.

Fibre-Channel SAN.
Fibre-channel targeted volumes are also configurable with the Mass Mountain DSS system. All that is necessary is the addition of single or multiple port Fibre-channel 8Gb host adapters that allow the entry onto the fibre-channel SAN topology. The DSS is a great addition to existing FC SANs because they are easy to configure and they are 1/4th the cost of higher priced primary storage boxes like HP, IBM, EMC and NetApp.

Network Attached Storage.

NAS volumes are also supported under the Mass Mountain DSS system. By adding NAS volumes on the existing infrastructure the DSS adds another dimension to it's capabilities.

All three topologies can be configured and operated simultaneously, serving any storage regimen needed by any sized network.

The replication, snapshot and Automated Volume Failover features allow a disaster proof scenario that fits nicely into any "DR" plan.

Disaster Recovery Solutions.

Dual Alpine SAN systems with Volume Fail-over will provide a Disaster Recovery Solution that will provide maximum data protection.  Even with (2) systems the cost is half of the others.  This is configuration is absolutely a "No single point of failure" solution.

Configuration Examples:

It is super easy to order and configure the DSS.

Model MSS8000 configuration and ordering example. Mass Mountain 8TB DSS. $950./TB
8 Hot Swap 1TB SATA drives, redundant PS, Rack Mount (6) Gb Ethernet Ports. Double it @ $750./TB using 2TB drives./TB

Model MSS16000. Mass Mountain 16TB DSS. $950./TB
16 Hot Swap 1TB SATA drives, redundant PS, Rack Mount (6) Gb Ethernet Ports. Double it @ $750./TB using 2TB drives./TB

Model MSS24000. Mass Mountain 24TB DSS. $950./TB
24 Hot Swap 1TB SATA drives, redundant PS, Rack Mount (6) Gb Ethernet Ports. Double it @ $750./TB using 2TB drives./TB

Model MSS48000. Mass Mountain 48TB DSS. $950./TB
48 Hot Swap 1TB SATA drives, redundant PS, Rack Mount (6) Gb Ethernet Ports. Double it @ $750./TB using 2TB drives.

Options:
A. Fibre-Channel Dual Port 8Gb HBA. $ 1750.EA
B. 10Gbit Dual Port NIC. $ 1250.EA
If you needed to order an 8TB Alpine SAN system with (1) 10Gbit option the model number would be:
MSS8000-B1
and the cost would be:
(8) 1TB X 950.= 7,600. 8TB System. 10GbE = 1,250. Total = 8,850. You can order the new 2TB 7200 RPM SATA drives and lower your cost /TB down to $750./TB. (8) 2TB X 750.= 12,000. 16TB System. 10GbE = 1,250. Total = 13,250.

Software support is free of charge. On-site service is available in USA and Canada.

Call one of our Technical Sales Consultants and have them help configure your system.  They can answer all your questions and even set up an on-line or on-site demo for you.
